A simple 3 step guide to choosing the right Shower Tray

Most bathroom retailers now have technology that can allow them to virtually create your bathroom on a computer, all you have to do is give them the measurements, door and window positions. When you want to fit a new shower tray and enclosure it is best to contact a professional for advice.

Here is a simple, easy to follow guide to helping you choose the best shower tray and enclosure for your showering needs. Here are the three steps:

Step 1: Shower Tray Size

The size of the bathroom will be the main determining point as to what size shower tray you will be able to fit in the space. Whether you have a small or large bathroom there will be a perfect shower tray to fit the requirements.

If you have a limited amount of space then consider a small square shower tray that will fit snugly in to any corner space. Or if you have a bath you could transform the room by adding a bath screen to your bath. Another option to consider is a low level shower tray these are perfect in big or small spaces and give the contemporary appearance of a wet room. This type of shower tray is less than 4mm high and can come in a range of sizes to fit almost any space.

Step 2: Location of shower trays

Now you choose where you want you’re new or replacement shower tray to be.

Corner Shower Trays
Putting a shower tray in the corner of a room gives the opportunity to choose from a much wide selection of shapes. You will need to decide which shape you prefer for you allocated space or if you’re doing a replacement then you’ll need to make the decision as to whether you’re going to do a like-for-like replacement or choose a different style. These are your options;
  • Square Shower Trays - A shower tray with 4 equal sides.
  • Rectangular Shower Trays - A shower tray with 2 long equal sides and 2 short equal sides.
  • Quadrant Shower Trays - A shower tray designed to be installed in a corner. Quadrant shower trays have 2 equal straight sides which are installed into a corner with a curved radius. This type of shower tray will usually have a radius of 550mm.
  • Offset Quadrant Shower Trays - A shower tray designed to be installed in a corner. Offset Quadrant shower trays have 1 straight long side and 1 short side with a curved 550mm radius curve at 1 end. This means that you will need to order either a Left Handed Shower Tray or a Right Handed Shower Tray depending where you are going to install your shower tray.
Installing Shower Trays Against a wall
If you want to make a statement and use your shower as the main focal point then a rectangular shower tray would be ideal as it will fit perfectly along a wall and look great in big spacious bathroom.

Those are the main two options of position when fitting a shower tray, and they come in a huge variety of shapes, sizes and colours. So you will almost certainly be able to find the perfect shower tray for your individual needs, requirements and to suit your personal taste.

Step 3: The Look and Feel of Shower Trays

Now you have to decide what kind of feel and look you want your bathroom to have. Whether you want it to be contemporary or classic also the kind of shower tray will give the room a different feel. If you decide to make it a focal point by using a big shower tray or just a small square shower tray to make it less inconspicuous.
