City Council Announce a Helping Hand for the Disabled

There’s good news for both elderly and disabled homeowners as Liverpool City Council announce a new loan scheme to help vulnerable members of the population.

The Houseproud scheme offers owner-occupiers the opportunity to make improvements, repairs and adaptations to their homes with a loan which can range from £3,000 to up to 55% of the current value of the property and which is available to those over 60 years of age or who have a disabled person in the household. As an added bonus, the loan does not need to be repaid during the lifetime of the recipient.

This exciting development is aimed at improving the quality of life of those homeowners most in need of assistance and the loan can be used to make a range of improvements to the home, including the installation of disabled bathrooms or other disabled adaptations such as stairlifts, or to replace windows or central heating systems. A statement from local Councillor Ann O’Byrne states that “it’s vital that our most vulnerable residents are given all the support they need to live safely and independently in their homes”.

There is no doubt that for many elderly or disabled homeowners this new scheme will come as a welcome relief and at a time when repairing, improving or adapting their living space can be overwhelming. More information can be found by calling 0800 783 7569
