Condensing Boilers harness money saving technology

Condensing boilers are a fairly new technology. They extract more of the heat energy than non-condensing boilers and also recycle it into heat.

Condensing boilers burn less gas than a normal boiler and produce the same amount of heating. This means lower fuel bills and less carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere. When you replace a domestic central heating boiler it now has to be with a condensing boiler.

Condensing boilers have a larger or even a second heat exchanger, so the gasses are finally released at around 55°C instead of much higher in effect wasting much less energy. The way a condensing boiler works also depends on whether the boiler is a combi or regular boiler.

There are advantages and disadvantages to condensing boilers. These are;

The advantages of condensing boilers:

  • Condensing boilers are over 90% more efficient
  • Condensing boilers can reduce energy bills
  • Condensing boilers conform to new laws that state all new boilers must be condensing boilers

The disadvantages of condensing boilers:

  • Condensing boilers cost more originally than a non-condensing boiler- however the reduced energy bills will pay this back in a few years
  • “Plumbing”, condensation from the flue of a condensing boiler may interfere with windows
