Efficient Boiler Pumps show increased savingsEnergy saving and reducing carbon emissions are the most frequently discussed topics in the domestic heating industry, however, there are still thousands of households containing highly inefficient energy pumps. There are a lot of doubts concerning; exactly how much energy a pump really uses, which are the worst ones, and what alternatives are there of more effective ones? There are people constantly looking to reduce the amount of energy used by hot water and heating systems. Building Regulations Part L has addressed the concerns relating to boiler efficiency in new boiler installations. However, there are old boilers in the UK probably not working at much over a 40% efficiency rate. These boilers are using much more energy than is necessary. You might be surprised at the amount of energy a heating pump uses; they are one of the biggest culprits for using energy. Therefore there should be huge scope for improving energy consumption when it comes to pumps and pumping systems. Reducing the amount of energy used by pumps would not only be a good for the environment but also for financial purposes. Despite increasing awareness of global warming people don’t seem to be actively doing as much as possible and lower energy bills are still the best incentive to get people to reduce the amount of energy they use. Energy companies are recognising their responsibilities in this field and are developing more efficient pump technology. Companies looking to meet the energy saving targets set by the Government for new-build and replacement systems are selecting more efficient pumps for their energy saving credentials in new homes and in replacement situations where failed pumps or parts for a heating system modernisation programme. With the increasing popularity of solar thermal heating systems making it a means of taking advantage of renewable energy sources, companies have been eager to find a pump that is designed specifically to meet the requirements of a solar system. It is obvious that it is pointless installing new solar technology and an old pump, a new specifically designed pump should be used.
