Showering with the Celebs

Showering may be a day to day activity, but for celebrities, showering – like any aspect of their lives – can become something of endless press fascination.

Showering is just a practical day-to-day chore for most of us. No matter how fantastic your shower is, when it boils down to it, showering is quite a mundane task for us ordinary folk. But when it comes to celebrities, it seems even their personal showering routines and habits are up for scrutiny. We're used to magazines and tabloids drooling over the minute-by-minute accounts of how a celebrity bought a cup of coffee, or looked coming out of a shop. And even their showering routine and showering habits are coming under scrutiny.

Showering Scenes prompt Body Double

In the movies, actors are notorious for refusing to do naked shots or demand body doubles, and showering in films it seems is a favourite scene for the average thriller or horror movie. The shower is always a place of drama or tension (think Psycho) or showering is often a shortcut to a sex scene. But although scriptwriters may love showering in their films, the actors aren't always so hot on shooting those scenes. The refusal of Kate Beckinsale to pose nude in a shower scene in her up-coming movie prompted The Sun newspaper to come up with the headline: 'Water disappointment!' They couldn't believe an actress known for her good looks would be worried about showering in front of the cameras. But as The Sun reports, Kate said she was allegedly unhappy with her thighs and so demanded a body double for the showering scene, or 'dummy bum' as The Sun put it.

Not a Fan of Showering (Allegedly)

Outside of the films, actors' showering routines are also hitting the headlines after Charlize Theron told US chat show host David Letterman that she went on regular camping trips to keep her grounded. She said: “I'm a tough girl and I can not shower for a week - I'm fine with that." The newspapers took the quote out of context saying Theron didn't wash, with The Sun leading the way with their showering strap line: “FELLAS, break out the soap and sponges - CHARLIZE THERON needs a wash." The showering habits of High School Musical star have also come under scrutiny after 'an insider' told the press that Zac Efron 'isn't a big fan of showering'.
