Bathrooms - Bathroom improvements can add value to house
Improvements to the bathroom are among the most popular ways UK homeowners can increase the value of their property, it has been reported.

To appeal to the widest section of the market, a home's bathroom should conform to the classic white suite style with chrome fittings such as taps and showers, recommends the Shropshire Star.

Also suggested is rearranging the layout of the bathroom, so the toilet is not the first thing that a viewer sees, while a separate shower cubicle or freestanding bath could make the room stand out from the competition.

There are also recommendations for those with smaller bathrooms, such as installing a ladder radiator which can also serve a towel rail, and placing mirrors along one wall to create the illusion of space.

A final tip is to avoid carpet and opt for hard flooring, such as marble or tile - with underfloor heating recommended to those who do not like cold feet.

Last week, an example of a flat with a novel approach to bathroom design was seen, when a Bristol flat with a toilet on the balcony and a bath in the kitchen was put on the market.
