Bathrooms - Extra funding for bathroom improvements for disabled users
12/09/2007
Disabled people could be given more help to improve their bathrooms under new proposals from Leeds council.
The local authority is mulling making an extra £2 million available to disabled homeowners for upgrades of this kind and is proposing to give them more freedom to adapt their homes than had previously been allowed, the Yorkshire Post reports.
The extra funding comes on top of the grants of £25,000 to which private homeowners and tenants with disabled inhabitants in their households are currently entitled.
Under the present policy, Leeds residents can also obtain help in formulating a work planner from a council-affiliated agency. The agency then assists them with obtaining necessary planning approvals and best policy for overseeing the work.
Heat and Plumb offers a range of bathroom products suitable for disabled users including
disabled shower trays and shower cubicles from Impey, as well as Armitage Shanks Ventura high-rise toilet.
