Bathrooms - Thieves steal toilet mobile
08/10/2007
Thieves saw some potential ill-gotten gains flushed down the toilet after inadvertently stealing a soapbox racer in the shape of a lavatory.
The custom-built machine was stolen from a truck while it was parked outside a hotel in Denver last month.
Built by five friends in Colorado Springs, the 7-ft high, 7-ft long machine had been competing in a go-kart challenge in Seattle.
Tom Valentine, who helped with the racers construction, confessed that rather than being upset about the loss of their toilet-shaped pride and joy, his team is "laughing about it."
"My guess is (they said), 'Oh, crap, it's a giant toilet'," he said.
Despite garnering second-place in the peoples choice category, the toilet-shaped design proved to be built for comfort rather than speed and did not win any races during the event.
As well as energy-efficient heating solutions and a host of bathroom products, Heat and Plumb sells a wide range of toilet fittings and accessories including novelty
toilet seats as well as toilet handles and hinges.
