Boilers - ''New boilers are a sound investment'', expert claims
05/09/2007
Replacing an older boiler with a new model can spell large energy bill savings for consumers, it has been claimed.
According to a report in Finance Daily, boilers over 15 years old are frequently inefficient and costs Britons up to £2.1 billion in wasted energy annually.
By way of comparison, the report stated that where an older boiler squanders as much as £4 out of every £10.
Meanwhile, new
boilers are able to convert up to £9 out of every £10 of energy used into heat and
hot water.
Moreover, installing a new boiler will also make homes more saleable, according to Gary McCausland, host of How To Be A Property Developer.
He said: "People are increasingly aware of the cost of out of date boilers, both in terms of higher energy bills and the impact on the environment. A new heating system is an investment which can create value twice the cost of the installation."
News of Mr McCausland's comments comes in the wake of the introduction of Hips, one requirement of which is that property owners disclose the energy efficiency rating of their homes.
