Boilers - ''Only condensing boilers can meet energy-efficiency rules''
15/08/2007
Installing a condensing boiler can significantly improve energy efficiency of buildings, a leading boiler manufacturer has claimed.
According to a statement issued by Ferroli, new regulations stipulate that a
gas boiler for a new building must have a gross seasonal energy efficiency of at least 84 per cent.
Furthermore, the basic requirement for a new gas boiler hooked up to an existing system is 80 per cent, rising up to 84 per cent when factoring in systems credits under the ADL2B regulations.
Only by using a condensing boiler can this be achieved, Ferroli claims.
"In both new and refurbishment applications the whole system must be taken into account, because unless all the elements are optimised to work together, the energy saving benefits of installing a condensing boiler won't be achieved."
The manufacturer added that engineers seeking to attain this level of efficiency need to create a system in which water returns to the boiler at 50 degrees C, to ensure that the boiler's heat exchanger will take heat from the combustion gases at the lowest possible temperature when balancing the heating system.
Heat and Plumb sells a range wide range of boilers including a wide range from Vokera, Ariston, Vailant, Worcester and Baxi.
