Boilers - BG lauches scheme to save on heating costs
18/01/2008
British Gas (BG) has launched a scheme that may help over-70s save money on their heating bills.
Those who own their own home or privately rent their property, and are in the stated age group, can apply to BG for free cavity wall and loft insulation, reports 24 Dash.
According to the site, those people who own a typical three-bedroom, semi-detached house can save up to £200 by installing cavity wall and loft insulation in their properties.
It is also stated that consumers who are interested in the initiative do not need to be on benefits or be living in a certain size of house in order to qualify for the offer.
Insulating properties does not only aid the homeowner or tenant - it has reported environmental benefits, too.
The energy Saving Trust states that those who install the recommended 270mm depth of loft insulation in their homes could save nearly one tonne of CO2 per year.
