Boilers - Boiler sector has already helped cut carbon
10/03/2008
The UK's campaign to cut carbon emissions has already been helped by the domestic heating sector, suggests research by a leading boiler manufacturer.
The study by Vaillant Group, which makes condensing
boilers and renewables, estimates that high efficiency products have cut five million tonnes of carbon emissions since the mid-1990s, reports H&V News.
Jim Moore, UK managing director, told the site: "These are very impressive figures. Domestic heating engineers should feel very proud of what they have achieved."
The research also estimates that 2.4 million tonnes of carbon have been saved since the introduction of 2005's building regulations.
However, it also reveals that carbon output would be cut by another 3.5 million tonnes if all cast-iron boilers over 15-years-old were replaced with newer, more efficient condensing units.
Directgov.co.uk highlights the benefits of condensing boilers, revealing how their increased efficiency results in lower heating bills as well as slowing climate change.
