Boilers - Boiler thief given discharge

A Burnley man who stashed stolen boilers in his back garden has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Robert Bonnett was also fined £75 in costs, the Burnley Citizen has reported.

He had initially claimed that he had found the boilers abandoned by the side of a canal.

However, CCTV footage played at the hearing showed three men breaking into a heating appliances supplier, prompting a confession from the defendant.

Mr Bonnett's solicitor told the paper: "Hopefully this is the last time this young man will be in trouble."
