Boilers - Broken boilers ''mean bleak winters for uninsured''
09/11/2007
UK homeowners without heating cover could be facing a tough winter, it has been claimed.
According to price comparison website uSwitch, around 15 million Brits are not covered in the event of their
boiler breaking down.
Moreover, one in five of these have never had their boiler serviced - leaving themselves even more at risk.
Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at uSwitch.com, acknowledged that it is tempting to try to save money by not insuring your boiler, but said that in fact mode of thinking is a false economy.
She said: "If your boiler packs up this winter you are likely to be facing a £500 bill, plus the misery of trying to get somebody out quickly to sort it out for you."
Those wishing to ensure they stay comfy and cosy this winter might like to consider a brand new boiler from Trianco or Vokera, both of which are covered by manufacturers' guarantees.
