Boilers - Condensing Boilers are ''cheap way to improve energy-efficiency''
12/10/2007
Installing a modern boiler is one of the cheapest and most effective ways of improving energy-efficiency of your home, it has been claimed.
According to Sam Turnbull, co-founder of environmental pressure group DownwithCO2.co.uk, the addition of an up-to-date boiler delivers results that match investing in new loft and cavity wall installation.
He said: "Evidence shows that insulating the loft and insulating cavity walls are important and easy steps to take. On top of that there is improving your boiler. It is one of the most important users of energy in the house. These options may not be as trendy as putting a wind turbine on your house but they do have the most impact.
"Getting properly insulated is relatively cheap, or free. Anyone receiving benefit can get that done for free. Quite a lot of people fall in to that category, and you can't get any cheaper than free. "
