Boilers - Elderly urged to check boilers before winter
15/10/2007
Older people have been urged to check their
boilers, amid warnings that temperatures are set to plummet this winter.
According to the Met Office, the wet summer and cold start to the autumn suggests that a bitter winter lies ahead.
This has prompted the British Gas Help the Aged Partnership to call on the over-60s, who are vulnerable to the cold weather, to get their boiler checked by a British Gas operative.
Anna Pearson, spokesperson for British Gas Help the Aged Partnership, said: 'With news of a colder winter on its way, Help the Aged, in partnership with British Gas, is urging older people to act now in preparation for the expected cold weather.
"It is vital that older people do not get caught out by the cold and take measures to maintain the warmth in their homes. It is also important they know that they are not alone in preparing for the winter."
Those wishing to ensure their home remains comfortably heated or that an elderly relative is protected from the inclement weather may like to invest in an energy-efficient boiler.
Heat and Plumb offers a range of boilers including an extensive range from Trianco.
