Boilers - Grants to fund kitchens and boilers in Surrey
15/04/2008
Surrey villagers will benefit from new kitchens,
boilers and heating systems, thanks to £138,000 in grants.
The funding has been awarded by Surrey county council to allow communities across the area to improve their village halls, according to the BBC.
Community building grants aim to keep village facilities in good condition and to help them serve as community focal points.
Weybridge Methodist Church will gain a new boiler and heating controls system, in addition to double glazing, while Bookham Community Association will completely refurbish its kitchen.
Further kitchen improvements will also been seen at West Horsley Village Hall and Lord Riddell Memorial Hall in Tadworth.
Chris White, a councillor with Surrey county council, told the news provider: "The buildings are often the homes of a vast range of different organisations. It is important we maintain their fabric and their facilities."
The grants provide up to one-third of the total cost of a project and enables village halls, community centres and voluntary youth buildings to meet standards set by the council.
