Boilers - New heating system for housing co-op
05/03/2008
Residents of the Sanford Housing Co-op have chosen to install a variety of new heating devices to replace their existing plumbing and heating system.
Among the improvements being made are biomass
boilers,
solar heating systems and heat-recovery ventilation units, reports HeatingandVentilating.net.
The improvements are part of the efforts by the residents to reduce their carbon emissions by 80 per cent by 2020, according to the news provider.
It is believed that the new boilers and solar heating systems will exceed the government's 2050 target for reducing emissions.
Approximately 150 tenants currently live in the houses that make up the co-op.
Sam Turnbull, co-founder of DownwithCO2.co.uk, recently said that improving boilers is one of the best ways to reduce the amount of energy used in a household.
The expert said that fitting insulation is another way that households can effectively reduce energy loss through walls and roofs.
