Bosch researches renewable energy technology

Boiler manufacturer Bosch has highlighted the amount of research and development the firm undertakes.

Speaking at the recently-held Bosch Forum 2008, Robert Meier, managing director for the firm in the UK, said €3.6 billion (£2.8 billion) was channelled into research and development activities, reports Process and Control Today.

Of this, some 40 per cent, or €1.5 billion, was invested in researching renewable energy technologies.

Mr Meier also noted that sales of renewable energy technologies increased to €750 million in 2007 and is expected to grow to reach €1.2 billion by 2010.

Worcester, part of the Bosch group, has an increasing portfolio of renewable energy products, the publication notes.

Among these are the Greenskies solar water heating panels, Greenstore ground source heat pumps and the upcoming Greensource air to water heat pumps.

"We have to stimulate innovation and deliver efficient and effective products that make all our lives better and we must be cognisant of both our personal and business actions that will impact the environment," Mr Meir concluded, according to the news provider.

Bosch manufactures a wide range of products, including the Greenstar 30 CDi System gas boiler, which can result in an extra ten per cent saving on fuel bills when used in full condensing mode.
