Condensing Boilers - Council fits energy-efficient boilers
04/10/2007
Council buildings in Bradford are to be fitted with new high-efficiency gas
boilers and biomass boilers, as more and more local councils recognise the need to cut carbon emissions.
The biomass boilers, which will be powered by woodchips from nearby forests, are currently being fitted at the Bradford City Hall and Ilkley Town Hall.
They form part of a series of environmental innovations being adopted by Bradford council, the Yorkshire Post reports.
Among these are the use of timer switches to ensue that vending machines and photocopiers are switched off when buildings are not being used, as well as inverter switches which will moderate energy-thirsty pumps at swimming pools.
Anne Hawkesworth, the council's executive member of environment and culture, said: "Bradford Council is leading by example in reducing its impact on the environment, and we hope to inspire local residents and businesses to follow suit.
"There is so much we can do to reduce energy consumption without having an impact on the services we deliver, from switching off lights when we leave the room to replacing our old boilers with more efficient ones. I look forward to seeing these initiatives in practice."
Heat and Plumb offers a range of energy efficient heating products including much-lauded boilers from Trianco.
