Condensing Boilers - New boilers ''offer energy efficient solution''

Among the advantages of installing a brand new boiler are the energy efficiency benefits it can bring, it has been claimed.

Julian Mears, a spokesperson for British Gas, said that fitting a new boiler can help to significantly reduce a property's carbon emissions.

"Newer boilers are A rated, which means they are cleaner. If they are cleaner, they emit less CO2," he explained.

With 25 per cent of a household's CO2 emissions attributed to energy, having an energy-efficient boiler can minimise the impact a home has on the environment, the expert added.

Earlier this year, British Gas announced that it was aiming to develop household boilers that are powered by fuel cells.

It is estimated that such devices produce as much as 2.5 tonnes less CO2 each year than a standard boiler.

Consequently, installing a fuel cell boiler could reduce household carbon emissions by half.
