Condensing Boilers - UK consumers turn up the heat on energy providers
14/01/2008
Nearly nine out ten UK consumers feel they are being ripped off by their gas and electricity providers, it has been revealed.
According to a study commissioned by the Sunday Times and conducted by pollsters YouGov, 89 per cent of those surveyed said they felt they are being subjected to swingeing prices.
Conversely, just 4 per cent replied they feel their providers offer them a "good deal".
News of the findings comes as energy giant npower increased its bills by 15 per cent last week - a development which is expected to prompt its rival energy providers to do the same in the next few weeks.
However, in spite of the widespread dissatisfaction, Ofgem, the UK energy watchdog, has confirmed it does not intend to investigate the six firms who dominate energy provision in the UK.
Homeowners looking to save money and cut bills despite the actions of the energy providers are advised to invest in a Trianco boiler, which offers far greater energy efficiency than a number of rival
boilers.
