Fires and Heaters - UK domestic heating report released

A new report on the UK heating industry called the Domestic Heating Market Report 2007 has been launched by Research and Markets.

The report highlights that the UK domestic heating market peaked at £1.81 billion for manufacturers' selling prices (msp) in 2006.

This was an increase of 1.7 per cent on 2005 and 24.1 per cent when taken over the entire research review period.

A key finding of the report was that the recent boom in the UK house building sector had caused an upsurge in the demand for domestic heating products. Also with the strong consumer spending, homeowners are tending to update their older, less energy efficient systems.

The report adds: "Moreover, a significant rise in fuel prices has further influenced demand for the new fuel-efficient oil and gas condensing and combination (combi) boilers, which can save owners up to a third on fuel costs."

It also identified several market areas that heating appliances breakdown into. These included: the large central-heating sector, covering boilers, boiler spares, radiators, pumps and controls, and the now much smaller space-heating sector.
