Heat Pumps - Heat pump used in new technology lab
04/01/2008
A state-of-the-art new facility for research into innovative manufacturing processes will be equipped with a ground source
pump designed by Eco.
Located in Sheffield University, the project has been dubbed the Factory of The Future and will be packed with the very latest manufacturing and production kit.
Among the firms already signed up to provide investment are Rolls Royce and Boeing, who will charge the £20 million outlay with the government, environmentaldatainteractive.com reports.
Once operational, firms will be able to use the facility to test out new technology and thus identify products worthy of further investment to bring them to market.
In keeping with the centre's forward-thinking approach, Eco Heat Pumps has been commissioned to provide a heat pump which will produce enough hot water for heating and free air-conditioning in summer.
The pump will be one of those from Eco's acclaimed Thermia Robust range, which will draw prime energy from more than 20 boreholes.
