Heating Controls - Honeywell lauded by efficiency expert

An energy expert has highlighted the ways he strives for efficiency in his own home, singling out Honeywell heating controls as a key element.

Dr Michael Lamperth, a lecturer with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, revealed that the Honeywell system can control individual radiators, allowing him to reduce waste by only heating rooms that are needed.

"For example, the kitchen and breakfast room zone is heated only in the morning and at lunchtime," he explained.

"Meanwhile the family rooms, study and bathroom are in a zone with a different heat pattern focused on warmth during the evening," continued Dr Lamperth.

The energy efficiency expert also noted that the Honeywell CM Zone heating controls can have different time settings for different days of the week, allowing separate heating patterns for weekdays and weekends.

He also attributed his energy efficiency success to double glazing, insulation, an efficient boiler and solar heating technology.

Dr Lamperth has undertaken research on the issues surrounding energy efficiency, including sustainable energy technologies and hybrid electric vehicles.
