Kitchens - Kitchen improvement tips revealed
06/05/2008
A series of tips which aim to make the most of a kitchen's sink,
taps and other fitting has been published.
Design is rated as the most important element when thinking about a dream kitchen, according to the Sunday Mirror, with DIYers advised to determine how they will use the room before making any changes.
Also recommended is leaving the plumbing and electrical points where they are, to avoid incurring extra cost and work, while sinks, cookers and fridges must be sited close enough to each other to make them convenient.
The type of sink that is installed in the kitchen is noted as an important consideration.
Deciding on the material of the sink is the first consideration, with extras such as taps, draining boards and strainers being the next thing an owner should think about.
"You can also get amazing composite models these days where the sink comes with a strainer bowl, drainer tray, basket and chopping board," the paper pointed out.
In related news, the Grand Designs Live show, which opened over the weekend, has seen live cooking demonstrations from chefs such as Gino D'Acampo, Merrilees Parker and Richard Phillips taking place in the exhibitor's kitchens.
