Kitchens - Kitchens becoming social hub of homes

Kitchens are increasingly becoming the social hub of Britons' homes, new research has revealed.
According to research from Legal & General's Changing Face of British Homes report, the kitchen is taking over from the lounge as the room where we spend much of our leisure time.
This is borne out by the revelation that 28 per cent of respondents have either a stereo or a TV in their kitchen for entertainment.
Meanwhile, while six per cent said they did not have a cooker or oven in their kitchens, while 12 per cent said their kitchen had no microwave - indicating the room is used less for cooking than had previously been the case.
Garry Skelton, Marketing Director at Legal & Generals general insurance business said: "It is interesting to see the role of the kitchen evolving from that of its traditional association with food and cooking appliances.
"This clearly reflects peoples increasingly diverse lifestyles. The research has unveiled an emerging trend for people to surround themselves with the technology in the kitchen that is elsewhere in the house."
