Kitchens - New kitchens and bathrooms in homes ''draw in buyers''

Fitting a new kitchen or bathroom is one the best ways of attracting buyers to your home, according to a property news website.

Updating your kitchen was named the fifth best way of improving a home's desireablity in an article from 999today.com.

The feature said: "While a new kitchen may not add greatly to value, it will certainly add hugely to appeal, provided it is well fitted, of reasonable quality and as timeless as possible in design."

Revamping your bathroom, meanwhile, is deemed to be the seventh best approach to take when attracting buyers, but it was stressed it is prudent that you must consider whether this is appropriate for your property first.

"Use common sense when deciding whether this is a viable option for you. If, for example, you have a five-bedroom house with only one bathroom, it may be wise to turn a bedroom into a bathroom.

"However, from an investment point of view, it would be a poor idea to transform a three-bedroom house with one bathroom into a two-bedroom house with two bathrooms."
