Plumbing - Competition launched for plumbers

Plumbers are real life superheroes, getting down and dirty on the job and braving toilet traumas in a way few of us would dare, it has been claimed.

According to toilet manufacturer American Standard, the hard work plumbers do to keep our lives running smoothly and hygienically goes unrecognised by the general public.

As a result, the firm has launched a new competition to celebrate them and has requested that plumbers from all over the US submit stories of their heroic on-the-job deeds, with the winner being made the subject of a comic book.

Jeanette Long, director of marketing communications at American Standard, said: "Plumbers are unsung heroes for the work they do everyday. American Standard wanted to show its appreciation with a superhero tribute that thanks plumbers who come to our rescue.

"The contest is a fun way to let plumbers tell their stories - and get an opportunity to be a superhero in their own comic book."

The winner of the competition will also be given one of American Standard's new Champion (R) toilets, which the firm claims is "virtually clog-free".
