Plumbing - Plumber scoops award for shaggy dog story
24/10/2007
A shaggy dog story about a flatulent hound has been named the funniest plumbing fable of the year in a competition conducted by US firm Duluth Trading.
Bert Entwhistle will earn the Golden Plumber Award trophy and over £600 in cash for his efforts.
The story, which is entitled The Pancake House Incident, tells the tale of Bert and his workmates' trip to a diner after they finished a job, the Capital Times reports.
According to Bert, diners' suppers were interrupted when a dog who had accompanied them onsite arrived and let rip causing a "nasty green mist" to fill the air and clearing the premises of customers in the process.
Bert and his colleagues later found out that the mutt had managed to get to three cans of beer and a can of snuff that had been stored in the back of their truck, which had prompted the dog's backside to explode "like a bomb in the night".
He will be given his prize at a ceremony to be held next month.
