Plumbing - Plumbing competition to be held

An event which will bring together the shining lights of the Welsh plumbing and electrical installation has been announced.

Swansea College has been named as the venue for the final of the Skill M&E competition to be held on May 8th and 9th.

The prestigious contest will see 14 entrants undertake a series of challenges to find the most skilled professional in the plumbing and electrical sectors.

Organised by SummitSkills and WorldSkills Wales, the SkillPLUMB and SkillELECTRIC challenges pit competitors in a two-hour theory test and a full-day practical assessment, which will be based on real-life work challenges.

Nick Couling, director of engineering, IT and technology at the college, said: "Among the competitors are some of our very best electrical and plumbing apprentices and I’m sure that participating in this two-day event will benefit them all hugely in terms of honing their skills and increasing their confidence."

Winners of the event will be recognised in an awards ceremony at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea and will be invited to take part in the Skill M&E UK finals.

Organised by BPEC for the past 20 years, SkillPLUMB aims to search for the country's top dog in plumbing skills and education.
