Plumbing - Plumbing demand goes Down Under
21/08/2007
Demand for plumbers is on the increase once again, with Australia currently looking to poach Britain's plumbers.
Australia has placed
plumbers on its wanted list, as it raises its annual target for the number of skilled workers coming into the country, and it is thought that the British profession will be targeted.
Plumbers are considered something of an indicator for the economy at large, as they are usually in demand at times of increasing prosperity and when a country is enjoying a property boom.
However, the UK had appeared to have largely solved its lack of plumbers, with influxes from overseas helping to ensure that demand was no longer far outstripping supply.
The concern is that the targeting of plumbers by Australia could see many of Britain's plumbing workforce heading Down Under, leaving the UK with another shortage, the BBC reports.
