Shoppers in central London need never experience trouble finding a public toilet ever again thanks to a brand new pilot scheme from Westminster council.

As of last week, visitors to London will be able to find out the location of their nearest WC simply by accessing a brand new text-message service called SatLav

The scheme's method is simplicity itself, with punters needing only to text the word 'toilet' to a designated number to receive a text telling exactly where they can find their nearest lavatory.

The service will cover 40 toilets in central London and works via harnessing satellite navigation technology to pinpoint users' locations.

Gail Knight, 26, who came up with the idea, said she was inspired by personal experience of the difficulty of finding a public toilet when out and about in town.

She told Techgadgets.in: "When I’m out with friends we’re always ducking into McDonalds or department stores to use their loos but we feel a bit bad about it.

"I thought a text service would be really useful for people on the move."
