Plumbing - Winter turns up heat on relationships
11/10/2007
High heating bills are a common cause of strife in relationships, new research has revealed.
According to price comparison website Moneysupermarket.com, 30 per cent of couples have blown a gasket over the heating bills.
Meanwhile, 18 per cent of individuals questioned admitted they found it irksome when their partner kept the heating on at a time when they deemed it unnecessary.
Head of utilities Paul Schofield said: "The heating wars have officially begun for winter 2007 and it is causing friction in homes throughout the nation.
"With many families clashing over when to turn the heating on or being annoyed when it goes on too soon, it is clear high bills are a driving concern," he added.
News of the survey's findings come as weather forecasts suggest that this winter is set to be colder than recent years, which could prompt the average heating bill to spiral yet further.
