Renewable Energy - Architect with renewable energy source principles shortlisted
14/05/2008
Renewable energy sources have caused a Scottish architect to be shortlisted for a national award, it has been reported.
Annie Kenyon, from Aberdeenshire, has been nominated for an Atkins Inspire Award, reports the Insch Press and Journal.
Ms Kenyon is among four finalists in the awards, which look to recognise and encourage women working in the UK construction industry.
"Using sustainable materials and renewable energy sources, our main principle is to create interesting, unique sustainable architecture in rural Aberdeenshire," she told the newspaper.
She also revealed that her own home includes renewable energy sources, as she has installed a ground source heat power to help warm up her house, providing a back-up to her open fires and wood-burning stoves.
The Atkins Inspire Awards recognise achievement in several areas of the construction industry, including architecture, commercial services and quantity surveying.
In the architecture category, Annie Kenyon is joined by Natasha Bonugli of Pringle Brandon, Sarah Evans of Austin-Smith:Lord and DMJM Rottet's Rachel Hyett.
