Renewable Energy - ODA opts for renewable energy

The design for the energy centre for London's Olympic Park contains a variety of
renewable energy technology solutions.
Details of the project released by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) ahead of a formal planning application show the centre will utilise both biomass
boilers and a combined cooling heat and power plant.
The energy centre will provide heat and power for the whole Olympic Park and then for the community housing that will be built on the 2012 site after the games.
Simon Wright, the ODA's infrastructure and utilities director, said the centre was a key part of the organisation of the games and its legacy projects.
"Sustainability runs right through this project and our energy centre plans will ensure the games deliver the lasting legacy of a sustainable energy supply for this part of east London," explained Mr Wright.
The ODA estimates that work on capital projects for London 2012 will create at least 9,000 construction industry jobs.
