Renewable Energy - Record studio pushes for green energy
A UK pop starlet has joined an eco-friendly music studio to support the drive for green energy in the UK, it has been reported.

Lily Allen and the Premises, a solar-powered recording studio in east London, have called on the government to reward home and business owners who adopt green energy technologies, according to newbuilder.co.uk..

Campaigners would like to see a 'feed-in tariff', which forces energy firms to pay a premium price for electricity generated through means such as solar power, biomass boilers and groundsource heat pumps.

Popular in countries such as Germany, the scheme encourages people to use renewable energy and rewards them for extra power they produce.

Julia Craik, managing director of the Premises, told the website: "With more government action there could be far more solar-powered businesses like the Premises Studios and many households would want to generate their own renewable energy."

In using the Premises, Lily Allen joins the Klaxons, Hot Chip, Bloc Party and Alphabeat - who have all recorded at the renewable energy studio.

According to wired.com, German solar power companies gained revenues of $435 million (£217.5 million) in 2000.ADNFCR-1168-ID-18575645-ADNFCR
