Renewable Energy - TV presenter reveals grand designs for eco housing
12/12/2007
A TV housing market and interior design expert is spearheading the drive to build eco-homes in Swindon.
Kevin McCloud of hit show Grand Designs is planning to build up to 200 of the homes through his development company Hab Housing.
The homes are to be located near Pinehurst Road on the outskirts of the town, the Swindon Advertiser reports.
Prior to formally submitting plans, Mr McCloud will hold a consultation with locals to solicit their opinions on the designated site and outline his proposals.
In order to meet eco-standards it is expected that the houses will incorporate up-to-the-minute environmentally-friendly fittings such as energy-efficient
boilers, air source heat pumps and water-saving
taps and
showers.
Mr McCloud founded Hab Housing in response to what he perceives as the poor construction standards in the UK housing market.
Heat and Plumb sells a wide range of energy-efficient fittings through which you can improve the green credentials of your property.
Among these are Vokera's energy-efficient boilers, air source heat pumps from Trianco, water-saving taps from Pegler and Duchy showers.
