Renewable energy used by Prince Charles
Prince Charles has used new boilers and renewable energy sources to cut his carbon emissions, it has been reported.

The Sustainability Account for the Household of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall has been published for the first time and shows a 39.7 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, according to H&V News.

In 2006-07, the Prince's properties created an estimated 917 tonnes of carbon - which fell to 656 in 2007-08.

"Overall use has fallen this year as a result of various measures such as the installation of energy-efficient condensing boilers in Clarence House and the use of energy-saving light bulbs," the report notes.

Biomass boilers have also been used at the Highgrove estate and Birkhall, while solar water heating equipment has been installed at Home Farm at Highgrove.

The report suggests further renewable energy measures are being considered by the Prince, the publication reports.

Last week, Dr Virginia Graham told BBC Radio 4 that "ordinary households" in the UK are ready to adopt renewable energy generation, provided the correct support is put in place by the government.
