Solar Heating - Landlords are ''leading eco-housing drive''

Savvy landlords are leading the charge to improve energy efficiency in the UK's housing stock, it has been claimed.

According to David Salusbury, chairman of the National Landlords Association, landlords have been making energy-efficient improvements to houses since they are a relatively inexpensive way of making the property more attractive to prospective tenants.

These might include fitting an energy-efficient boiler such as those from Trianco and Vokera, or opting for a solar-powered heating solution akin to the Worcester's Greenskies Solar Package FKC-1S - all of which can have a significant impact on cutting heating bills.

Mr Salusbury said: "They know that an energy-efficient property makes good business sense because it will be more appealing to tenants, will command a premium rent and also help save the planet."

The chairman’s remarks follow the news that as of October next year all rental properties will require energy performance certificates.
