Solar Heating - Solar heating ''can cut fuel bills''
14/02/2008
Fuel bills can be cut by as much as 50 per cent through the installation of a
solar heating system, it has been claimed.
The suggestion came from Florin Plavosin, senior director of product development for Enerworks, after the technology company installed 40 collectors and a solar energy unit at the Les Jardins Lebourgneuf retirement home in Quebec.
With the cost of fossil fuels rising, a solar heating system was the perfect choice for the development's hot water system, according to Mr Plavosin.
"The home's water heating bills will effectively be cut in half as the
system meets close to 50 per cent of their annual hot water needs."
Meanwhile, Infinia Corporation has announced it has secured a $50 million (£25 million) financing package to fund the development of its new Solar System product.
The system is designed to harvest energy from sunlight and convert it into electricity using an emissions-free process.
