Two boilers in luxury home
A look around one the UK's most expensive and desirable houses has revealed the range of plumbing and heating technologies it contains.

Jersey House, a refurbished property on Bishops Avenue in Hampstead, covers 20,000 square feet and reportedly cost £100 million to complete, according to the Times.

Instead of the boiler cupboard, the mansion has a plant room which houses two 140-kilowatts boilers which power a range of heating appliances spread around the property.

The house has eight separate underfloor heating systems which use most of the heat generated by the boilers, while a heat exchanger services the pool and two 1,800-litre indirect water heaters supply water for domestic use.

In addition, the property has two kitchens - one for residents and one for the caterers - while luxury is carried through into the bathrooms, which have heated towel rail systems, reports the newspaper.

Although none of this technology is cheap, the credit crunch has not affected those likely to buy the home.

The developer of Jersey House, Andrew Silver, quipped to the newspaper: "It is not as if these guys are going to Nationwide for their mortgages."

According to Forbes.com, the most expensive house in the UK in 2007 was Updown Court in Surrey, which has 103 rooms, a 50-seat cinema and a heated marble driveway.
