Energy-efficient fittings, such as Trianco boilers and air source heat pumps, will boost the value of your home in years to come, according to a leading DIY group.

As awareness of the cost savings to be made by energy-efficient applications, coupled with the fact that they cut your carbon footprint, consequently buyers will take more and more notice of green measures, The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) predicts.

NHIC technical consultant Andrew Leech said: "They will be looking at whether you've got double glazing, whether you've got an efficient energy system and heating system."

Surveyors will be taking more and more notice of green-energy fittings in years to come, he said.

"The surveyors who will be looking at the property after somebody decides to purchase it … that's the sort of thing they will be looking for," Mr Leech explained.
