Underfloor heating wanted by home buyers

Over a third of UK house buyers have named underfloor heating as one of their most sought-after luxuries when looking at new homes, new research has revealed.

The desirability of underfloor heating was revealed in a survey conducted by Wavin Plastic, which manufactures OSMA underfloor heating.

Among the factors influencing their responses was the belief that underfloor heating provides all-round warmth - cited by 74 per cent of respondents - and the wall space savings it offers, which 76 per cent claimed was important.

Chris Simmons, commercial manager of Wavin, told AtoZofbuilding.com: "We’ve heard lots of positive comments about UFH such as 'warmth without the dryness of central heating', and 'lovely to walk on with bare feet'.

"Once people have experienced how fantastic UFH is, they want it in their own homes. More and more people are realising the benefits."

Other items named by those surveyed in their most desirable luxury items for new homes were a fitted dishwasher, electric garage doors and a conservatory.
