vScots get free gas for replacing old boiler
06/09/2007
Scottish homeowners are being offered a cash incentive to encourage them to replace their existing boiler with a newer model, it has been reported.
Scottish Gas has pledged that customers who replace their inefficient boilers will be entitled to one year's free gas, according to a report in the Scotsman.
The offer comes after research published by Finance Daily yesterday showed that out of date boilers can add as much as £240 to the average homeowner's heating bills.
Ritchie Palin, a Scottish Gas engineer, said: "Energy efficiency statistics back up the benefits of installing a
new boiler and we're confident that householders will see the difference in their bills as soon as they fit a new boiler, so much so we're offering to pay your gas bill for a year as an added incentive to households who
buy a boiler from us this autumn."
Boilers over 15 years old are deemed the least energy efficient with £4 out of every £10 being wasted, the research discovered.
