New eco boiler unveiled by Baxi
07/03/2008
UK boiler manufacturer Baxi has presented its new micro-combined heat and power (CHP) unit to government, industry and environmental representatives.
The Ecogen, a domestic boiler that has been developed to run almost noise and vibration free, was unveiled before Malcolm Wicks MP, minister of state for energy, the Energy Saving Trust and other organisations.
Martyn Coffey, chief executive officer of Baxi group, noted that it is important to use natural resources in the best way and reaffirmed his company's commitment to producing units that make clean, efficient energy.
"Ecogen is the next generation of domestic boiler and offers the opportunity for a mass produced renewable product for the UK market," he continued.
The boiler is a wall-hung gas unit that provides heating and hot water, as well as generating 1 kilowatt of electricity. Field tests have shown that the boiler can reduce a home's carbon output by up to two tonnes per year.
Saying the mini-CHP unit was a "great example of new microgeneration technology", Mr Wicks mentioned the government's aim to reduce greenhouse gases and said the boiler showed that business can also "rise to that challenge too".
Baxi has put the environment and energy efficiency at the core of its brand value philosophy and aims to be at the cutting edge of renewable technology.
