Fires and Heaters - Dimplex heats up terminal five17/03/2008 The premium executive lounges in Heathrow's new terminal five features fires designed by Dimplex. Ten Dimplex SP9 Optiflame fires are installed in the 'galleries' complex to create focal points in the lounges which service Concorde, first class and business class passengers, reports Buildingtalk. Designed to create a luxury hotel effect, the lounges are decorated with Swarovski crystal chandeliers and artworks specially created by top designers, while the Dimplex fires are installed in modern fireplaces. Gary Ranns, British Airways' design head for the lounges, told the site why he chose the products: "The Dimplex SP9 fires met our criteria almost as if they were designed for us as we can keep the flame effects lit without heat year round, ensuring we maintain the right mood for discerning travellers." The galleries lounge has six areas covering 20,000 square metres and houses premium brands shops, while the main terminal features 140 shopping and eating outlets, including a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. Also included in the galleries lounge is an arrival section, where premium passengers can relax in a spa or eat at a top-end restaurant before continuing their journey. ![]() |
