Top tips for sprucing up a home's bathroom have been published by the Daily Record.

Homeowners who want to renovate their bathroom do not have to splash out on a new suite, the newspaper says, as fittings such as toilets, baths and sinks are built to last for a few years.

However, simply adding new shower heads and taps will give a bathroom a new lease of life, it suggests.

"For the 'wow' factor, consider a stunning glass or waterfall tap for a truly contemporary look, or go for the nostalgic choice, gold Beaumont taps," the article recommends.

Another step is to update the shower enclosure by replaced old screens with new ones, if the shower unit and tray are still in a good condition.

Finally, the newspaper says changing the toilet seat and other accessories can also improve a bathroom.

Previously, the newspaper has recommended whirlpool baths with underwater lights and plasma screen televisions are ideas for creating impressive bathrooms.
