Plumbing - New Worcester training centre opens

24/04/2008
Leading boiler manufacturer Worcester has opened a £600,000 training centre to support installers in the north-east.

The Bradford technical training centre will allow the group to train more tradesmen to install its boilers, on top of the 14,000 that graduated from its course last year, reports H&V News.

Clive Dickin, chief executive officer of the Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors, told the publication: "Worcester’s newest training facility will certainly give installers the chance to gain hands on experience of working with some of the latest high efficiency boilers and renewable technologies in a friendly environment that is a pleasure to learn and teach."

Alongside the latest gas and oil-fired boilers, the facility has a room dedicated to renewable technologies, such as groundsource heat pumps and solar panels.

Phil Bunce, training manager for Worcester, commented that Worcester is committed to training high-quality plumbing and heating professionals.

He also revealed that the firm has further plans to invest in training, with two new centres in the south-west and Scotland to be opened by 2010 and courses applicable to business such as IT skills.

Worcester manufactures a wide range of products including Greenstar condensing boilers and Greenskies solar water heating.
