Heat Pumps - Heat pump used in UKs greenest village hall

11/09/2007
A council building has been fitted with a ground source heat pump as part of a drive to the make the most eco-friendly village hall in the UK.

Beachwood Hall in Cookbridge uses a ground source heat pump, which is powered by heat generated from a nearby wind turbine measuring 45ft, the Argus reports

It is estimated that the "virtually carbon neutral" building will save over 11 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.

Peter Mitchell, the chairman of trustees for the village hall project, told the publication: "We wanted to support new renewable forms of energy. It is sending an important message to everybody about where our priorities lie."

Funding for the project has been provided jointly by the EDF Energy Green Fund and the Low Carbon Buildings Programme.

Heat and Plumb sells a range of pumps from leading brands such as Grundfos and Stuart Turner as well as macerators from Saniflo.
